Dressmaker Wiki

Dressmaker is a cozy dressmaking simulation from Cozy Lives and Free Lives: you take a commission, measure the client, set the mannequin, sketch the dress, buy fabric, cut the pattern, sew it and hand it over. This wiki walks you through that loop step by step, then covers the cutting, sewing and customer questions the game never explains.

Dressmaker FAQ

The questions new dressmakers ask in their first hour, answered from the official store page, the developers' own announcement posts and player reports.

A cozy dressmaking simulation from developer Cozy Lives, published by Free Lives and released on Steam on 21 September 2026. You are the town's dressmaker: customers describe what they need, and you measure them, design the dress, buy the fabric, cut the pattern, sew it and hand it over. The game is about making dresses, not about running a shop.

See the whole commission loop

No. There is no timer and no difficulty option, and the bobbin is infinite, so nothing punishes you for being slow. The sewing stage can still feel tight, which is why the sewing assist option and the machine speed control matter so much.

How the sewing stage works

$14.99 in the United States with a 10% launch discount, and regional pricing elsewhere. There are no microtransactions, no ads and no data collection, and the developers said so in their own pricing post.

Full price and bundle list

Yes, but not as a demo. The free Dressmaker Prototype 0.5.5 is on itch.io for Windows, macOS and Linux at a price you choose, which can be zero. It shows the dressmaking loop but not the finished story, character art or progression, and there is no browser version.

Free prototype vs the full game

Not yet. Windows and macOS are out, and the Steam Deck compatibility rating is Playable. The developers say mobile and Switch ports are planned but have not given a date, and no PlayStation or Xbox version has ever been announced.

Every platform, with status

The developers describe roughly 35 hours of story commissions, not counting off the rack dresses you make and sell on your own. There are over 150 dress pieces, over 450 fabrics and over 350 accessories.

Dresses you make without a customer

Yes, and it runs fast. The problem is input: the interface is built around a mouse pointer, and players report not being able to zoom in on the mannequin. The developers list proper controller support as a planned update.

Steam Deck controls and fixes

If it is a Windows 10 or newer machine with 8 GB of RAM and at least Intel UHD 630 graphics, it meets the published minimum. The macOS minimum is an Apple M1, so Intel Macs are not listed as supported.
